Replacement Motor or full pump

Hello,

I have a 30,000 gallon pool with a 1.5 HP VS Pool Pump. It often overheats and cannot run at top speeds when it is is above 70 degrees outside. Does this seem like a wiring issue or a undersized pump issue. Also would you reccomend a new pump motor or a whole new pump?

Thanks in advance!

I would say that it’s an electrical issue. We have seen a lot of the same problems with Blue Torrent variable speed pumps. We would recommend something like the Waterway Power Defender 165 for your application. It’s a 1.65HP 230v variable speed pump.

Would you reccomend just a motor replacement or the whole pump?  What would be the difference between the 1.65 HP and the 2.7 HP?  I have a 30,000 gallon pool with two fountains along with 4 outflows into the pool(2 large and 2 in the stairs)?

Thank You

If it were a different pump model I would recommend a motor replacement. I think you’ll run into the same issues rebuilding that Blue Torrent because you would have to use one of their motors. The 2.7HP VS pump might be a better option if you need additional flow for those water features.

The 2.7 Waterway Defender is part number PD-VSC270. Click Here to View More Information on the Waterway 270 VS Pump
