Safety Cover

I’m looking to replace my pool cover (floating type) with a solid safety cover.

I have a 20x36 grecian pool with 4x8 center steps.

I’ve compared prices for a grecian cover, and am trying to decide if a 20x40 rectangular safety cover will work.  The biggest problem is price.  The grecian is usually considered “Custom” and comes with a pretty hefty price differential.

I have plenty of room around the pool (cement walkways and pavers) for a 20x40 (i know about the extra yard stakes for the pavers) and can’t really figure out why i should NOT use the rectangular cover.

Anyone have any thoughts why a grecian cover is worth 30-50% more and why i should not get a rectangular cover???

thank you,  Jay

Hello Jay - The benefit of getting a custom grecian cover designed for your pool is that the protective padding will be in the correct location. The padding prevents the cover from being damaged by the coping. Without padding, the coping would rub a hole in the cover.

A rectangular cover would fit over the pool but the warranty would be voided if it is torn because of the deck coping.
