Shaft Seal and Impeller

I have replaced a shaft seal on a Theramax 6500-902 but am not sure i used the correct shaft seal because I can’t seem to find an impeller that fits.  The shaft seal seems to fit the housing but the shaft seal is too small for the impeller that I have purchased.  The impeller is the 6500-295.  So one of the parts that I purchased is the wrong piece.  Can you provide any guidance?

Thanks.

Below are the part numbers we were able to cross-reference from your Theramax 6500-902.

Impeller - Part Number 6500-295

Shaft Seal - Part Number PSR-200

Did you order the PSR-200 shaft seal?

Rob…thanks for your reply.  The box does say PS-200 but it has been marked out and Sundance is written in.  I am not sure why they did this, but it appears to be the original box.  The opening of the shaft seal is not large enough to accomodate the diameter of the impeller.  Just not sure what else to try at this point.  Any other ideas?

Thanks!

The shaft seals can be a tight fit. Have you tried wetting the shaft of the impeller before trying to slide on the spring portion of the seal?

Rob,

I have not but I can.  It seems that the metal sleeve that is part of the shaft seal is not large enough to insert the impeller into it, which I am not sure how to rectify, unless I am putting it on incorrectly?

It should go on either way but the shiny smooth side should be facing the white ceramic portion of the other shaft seal piece.

These are the measurements of the 200 shaft seal.

Rob…thanks very much.  I will check those when i get back home this evening.Just to I am clear…the side you have at the top of the photo goes against the porcelin and rubber piece that is in the housing?

That is correct.

Rob…the metal portion of the seal will not accept the shaft othe impeller.  The shaft measures 3/4" OD.  and the ID of the metal portion of the shaft sel appears to be 11/16".  Maybe i have the wrong impeller, but ordered by my number and your number above.

Any thoughts?
