Took my pump to a local pool store to have the motor replaced. It looks like they accidentally put the longer bolts up top first and punched through the seal plate. I wasn’t sure if it would be issue but it seems to be leaking from that area. I’m assuming this is an issue. Thoughts?
Yes, that could lead to leaks. They should have replaced the seal plate on their dime. This happens a lot on the Dura-glas model if you’re not familiar with the location of the different bolts.

More than likely it is the seal plate. The only other reason would be an incorrectly installed shaft seal.
