Has anyone here ever run two filters, a sand filter in front of a cartridge filter, using the sand filter as a pre filter for the cartridge filter to clear out most of the debris and only require the cartridge to filter the smaller particles, therefore lengthening the time between cartridge cleanings and also the life of the cartridge filter itself. What are the pros and cons of running a system like this and what extra things need to be taken into consideration when running a system like this?
