Trouble with Hayward pool light.

We moved into our house less than a year ago and when we were finally able to get into the pool this year we noticed the pool light looked like it had water in it - but it worked. We removed the fixture and it had water behind the lens. We decided to order a whole new fixture complete with new bulb. We put the new fixture in and it did not work. We had an electrician check the breaker and the wiring, all good. We did not have him check the actual fixture. We figured maybe the bulb was bad so we took the fixture out and tried a regular household bulb - it worked, so we ordered a new bulb. We put the new bulb into a floor lamp in the house and it worked. Ok, good bulb. Installed it in the fixture - did not work. What is going on? Same fixture and bulb as before that worked. Why does the 120 volt, 500 watt bulb work in a floor lamp in the house, but not work in the pool fixture. Why does a 120 volt, 12 watt LED bulb work in the fixture? It’s a Hayward model #W3SP0583SL100.
