Bought a new variable speed pool pump. Plumbed it in and had bubbles in return, assumed a leak in plumbing and so totally re-plumbed it. Still have some bubbles Watched it more carefully and only have bubbles in return on low speed. What could be happening?
Details:
On low speed:
Visible bubbles in only one of the two returns in pool.
Small amounts of air in the system is common with variable speed pumps running on low speeds. You can try lubricating the lid o-ring with a silicone or teflon lubricant. It could be a case where a small amount of air is getting in through the lid. This may not happen on high speeds because of the increased pressure on the lid/o-ring.
If the pump is not losing prime overnight, I wouldn’t worry about it.
Thanks Rob for your quick response. Lubricated oring and lid no change. But have watched it over the past week and small bubbles on slow speed continued. No problem with keeping prime and only a small amount of air in system when off. So, I am not going to worry about it Saves a lot of electricity. Thanks
