White specs in water and white film on filter (Salt Pool)

Hello

Look for advise on how to trouble shoot the following.

Have been noticing white flakes in pool water, like snow flakes and when i cleaned the filter last week, there is a white film on filter pleats, like chalk.

Current water chem is 2.0 for chorine and ph is 7.4 and free chlorine is 110.

There is not build up on salt generator.

Thoughts on how to clear this up?

We’d be glad to assist you. The flakes are usually from scale on the salt cell that blew back into the pool. What is your calcium hardness level? It should be in the range of 200-400. High or low calcium levels could cause what you are describing.

As far as cleaning it up, I’d recommend a product like Natural Chemistry’s Scale Free as well as a water clarifier.
