Hello I had a question on how to drain the main drain that goes to the skimmer? I’ve tried everything and it just keeps filling back up with water. Does that drain has to be drain or can I be left with water? Thanks hope to

I put foam rope in the pipe to the main drain from the skimmer but I can only get about 3 to 4 ft in the pipe due to the water pushing it out. Would that be enough?
