Won't calibrate

Hayward Aqua=rite won’t calibrate.

New T-Cell.  Salt level in pool at 3310 as per test strip.

Followed test procedure as per your video.  The lowest the reading drops to 4000 ppm and won’t go below that.  It doesn’t lower to the 3200 which i understand it should.

Any suggestions?

If this is any help the digital readout does not show the T Cell model.  The Voltage to the cell is about 32 volts.  It is a T-15 Cell.

We’d be glad to assist you. What is the revision number of your software? You can find this by pressing the diagnostic button until it appears.

r 1.4

I reached out to a Hayward tech and below was his response.

Some cells leave the factory with an extra layer of coating material on the interior cell plates. This causes the unit to read higher salinity levels upon initial use. The customer can drain out some water and replenish with fresh to get the perceived level down. Over time the extra layer of coating will wear away and the reading will begin to normalize. The extra layer will also add longevity to the life of the turbo cell.

I am have the same problem with my system reading 4100 but my software is ver. 1.59, and my system is also generating high levels of chlorine 7.39. I have a new T-15 I purchased 3 weeks ago and my pool is 17500 gallon, and running at 40%. Do you think I should try cleaning the cell or could my control board need replacing or maybe I received a bad cell? I did replace the control board a few years ago.

The cell shouldn’t need to be cleaned. It is doing its job by generating chlorine. How are you testing the chlorine level?

Try running the cell at 30% and see if the chlorine level drops within the range of 2-4ppm after a day or two.

Thanks I used a pool test kit, I did turn it down last night so I will see if that works.

Keep us posted on what happens. Have a great day!
