OK, i see the strainer basket but where does the filter go or is there no filter to remove the smaller particles? For the price of 600 dollars I would think it would remove smaller particles.

Hi Ray, The pump itself only has the strainer basket as its filter, any debris that made it through the basket would then be filtered out by your Pool Filter. Pretty much all pool pumps and filter systems are set up this way. There is a product called a Skimmer Sock which you can put over the pump basket if you want it to filter out finer debris.
