We would still recommend an air pillow. An air pillow will allow freezing water to expand up instead of out. Expanding out will put pressure on the pool walls.

How is the mesh cover adhered to the pool?

Hello Todd - The cover comes with a cable and winch. All you have to do is lay the cover over the pool and then feed the cable through the grommets around the edge of the cover. The last step involves tightening the cable with the winch.

Do you need a regular cover along with the mesh?

Hi Leigh, No. You do not need a regular cover along with the mesh, you can use just the mesh cover which will allow water to drain into the pool.
