I have the 168454, stopped working and shaft fees loose. I was making loud sounds on startup, I thought it was cap but since the shaft feels loose maybe a bearing. Either way, it is very hot and doesn't tun. I heard AO SMITH B858 is for replacement? Is there a better option? Can I replace myself if I am good with tools and electronics?

Hi, The B858 motor will be the correct replacement motor. The B2983T will be a better option, it's a dual speed motor with controller which will cut back on operational cost by providing you with a lower speed for filtration. You can install either motor yourself.
