Hi Gary, Yes you can still run your pool pump with a solar blanket on the pool surface. You may just need to be sure the blanket does not interfere with the skimmer function. High winds should not move the blanket as they are fairly heavy. The main pro is that they do help to keep the pool water warmer jump-starting and extending your swim season. The con is the fact that it will need to be either reeled or manually removed before using the pool and put back on after.
