In the long term, leaving your pool cleaner in the water while you shock your pool will shorten the lifespan of your automatic pool cleaner. When you shock your pool, you are boosting your chlorine parts per million (ppm) from 2-3, all the way to 10-12 ppm. Protect your automatic pool cleaner, remove it from the water when shocking or adding any heavy doses of sanitation chemicals.
