Pentair Superflo VS with aquarite swc

Hello! I recently purchased a new variable-speed Pentair Superflo VS pump to replace my power hungry single speed Hayward Superpump II. Unfortunately, after a lot of research I’m wondering if I will be able to make the set-up work. The current Hayward pump and aquarite swc are connected to an intermatic mechanical timer. Due to the new variable speed pump needing constant power I’m confused at how I can make this set up work.

My thought right now is to follow the guide provided for the installation of the Pentair pump on INYO and move the wires to terminals 1 and 3 so the pump has constant power and the settings can be configured; however, do I still leave the swc connected to the same terminals on the timer? Is there a better way to make all this work together that’s cost effective? The quote I recevied from the pool company was twice the cost of the pump!

Hello Mykal0112 - You are on the right track. You will need to connect the motor wires to terminals 1 & 3 on the timer. This way the pump always has power. The salt chlorine generator will stay connected to terminals 2 & 4.

I have a new Pentair SuperFlo VS pump and a new AquaRite AQR-9 . In the attached pics, the red wires go to the pump, and the timer is manually switched on so the pump always has power. You mentioned in the previous post to Mykalo112 that the pump wires should be moved to terminals 1 & 3 to give constant power to the pump and wire the AquaRite to terminals 2 & 4. Should I then turn the timer manual switch to off and install the trip bars to the timer so that the AquaRite comes on at the preset “on” times on the pump? This Intermatic Timer , while new, does not look like the on and off times can be set with much accuracy and I don’t want to damage the AquaRite by having it come on when the pump is not running. I know the flo switch should prevent that, but what if the flo switch fails?

In retrospect, I guess I can just set the timer to come on 10 or so min “After” the pump start time?

Everything stated before is correct.  However If you want to the minute accuracy for the salt chlorine generator Intermatic has an inexpensive DPST digital water heater timer EH40 that will fit in the same enclosure and replace your existing timer.  It has a non-volatile memory and has time of day battery back up.  That way your equipment can be syncronized.
