Aquarite Misreading

Hey, guys. I am having an issue with my aquarite. Its reading are about 500 higher than my water test. My ph and chlorine levels are 7.7 and 4.1 on a lamotte colorq7. What should i do. Hayward says the salt has to be about 3200 for optimal and my pool guy says add salt based on water test not what the aquarite is saying. Should i leave it be. Its a turbocell 940.

It’s not uncommon for a salt system to be off +/- 500 ppm. You can try recalibrating the Aquarite. Check out our guide titled “How To Recalibrate the Salt Level on a Hayward Aquarite”.

Thanks Rob. I tried to recalibrate it and it just reaches at -3200. Should I add salt based on my home test to raise the salinity from 2600 to 3200 or just leave it alone and follow the 3200 level on the aquarite screen.

Your home test kit is probably more accurate. Before you add any salt, I would take the water to a local pool store. This way you have a 3rd test to confirm your reading.

Thanks rob. I did both store and home test was about 100 off 2600/2700. Should i add salt based on independent test to raise the salt to 3200 or keep it as is and use the numbers on the aquarite which are 3200. The generator is generating and free chlorine is around 4 on lamotte color system.

I am sorry and one more thing to add my free chlorine was at 6 to 7 and i had the dial on 40 percent on the aquarite. I lowered the dial to 10 percent and decreased the pump to 6 hours from 8 hours.

I would hold off on adding the salt. It seems like it is working well since the free chlorine had a strong reading.
