Upgrading from a single speed to a variable speed pump

I have a Pentair 340197 pump and need to upgrade to a variable speed or dual speed pump. What would be the right pump to upgrade to.  I seen a post that asked if you would have to replace the pump and motor or could you just replace the motor, would that pretain to me with the pump I have? Thank you

Model 340197 cross-references to a Pentair Dynamo model. We don’t currently have a variable speed motor for that pump. We do have a 2-speed motor. The model number is BN37V1. Click Here to View More Details on the Motor

Would the cord off our current motor work for this 2 speed motor and would all I need extra is the toggle switch?

Also this motor would be more ecconomic than the one we have now? Thank you so much for your time. Charleen

Yes, you could use your existing cord if you add the toggle switch.

The 2-speed motor will be more efficient than the current single-speed motor. You will save a lot of energy by circulating the water on low speed. The only time high speed should be needed is when vacuuming the pool or backwashing the filter.

Thank you for your responce. Is there any orings or gaskets that would need to be changed to swawp motors?

The Dynamo seal kit is GOKIT46. Click Here to View More Details on the Seal Kit
