Step 1

Turn power off at breaker.

Step 2

Loosen two screws from black motor cap and remove cap.

Step 3

Remove two screws on terminal board and pull it gently away so that the back of the terminal can be seen.

Step 4

Locate black wire lead from underside of terminal board. It will be connected to terminal A. The terminal marked A can only be seen from the topside of the terminal.

Step 5

Pull the black wire lead from the terminal board.

Step 6

Attach the black wire lead to the high speed terminal of the toggle switch assembly. The high speed terminal will be signified on the outside near the toggle switch. High is the upper terminal on the outside. This means the black wire lead needs to be connected to the higher terminal on the inside of the cap.

Step 7

Locate yellow wire lead from underside of terminal board. It will be connected to terminal L1. The terminal marked L1 can only be seen from the topside of the terminal.

Step 8

Attach the yellow wire lead to the low speed terminal of the toggle switch assembly. The low speed terminal will be signified on the outside near the toggle switch. Low speed is the lower terminal on the outside. This means the yellow wire lead needs to be connected to the lower terminal on the inside of the cap.

Step 9

Connect the purple wire lead from the toggle switch to the underside of terminal L1 on the terminal board.

Step 10

Secure the terminal in place with the two terminal screws that were removed in step three.

Step 11

Feed the 3 external wires through the conduit hole. Typically, the 3 external lines will be black, red and green. These represent the two hot lines and ground respectively.

Step 12

Connect the black (hot) line to L1 on the terminal board.

Step 13

Connect the red (hot) line L2 on the terminal board.

Step 14

Connect the green (ground) line to the green ground screw.

Step 15

Slide the new end cap over the back of the motor and tighten the two screws.

Step 16

Attach the bonding wire to the motor's bonding lug. The bonding wire will either be exposed copper or a copper wire with a green sleeve.

Step 17

Assuming the motor has been bolted to the pump housing, prime the pump and turn the power on at the breaker before starting the motor.
