I added the powder. through the pump without the filter then added the liquid and ran pump for a couple of hours. Will this be ok?

Hi, Mike. At this point, it might be okay. However, the pool has to be running when adding the winterizing powder. The pool has to run for a complete cycle to ensure the application is effective.

For an unground pool, side skimmer, can you install a new frame with a plastic cover so you don't have to drain the water below the side skimmer to close?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/2/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Steve M.

Ron, yes, in most cases you can buy a winterizing cover for your skimmer. It depends on what is available for your particular model. I suggest sending a couple of pictures to our support team with model details on the skimmer and have them see if they can source the part for you. Please send that information to upload@inyopools.com

I have a 20000 gallon pool should I just put all the chemicals for the 30000 kit in or try to figure out exactly how much to use?
 Reply

A  Answered on 9/18/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Mike. It will be better to measure out what is needed for your size pool. However, it would not hurt your pool if you were too.

Do you have to run the pump all winter or long enough to circulate the chemicals, which is?
 Reply

A  Answered on 9/5/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Christine. You will have to run the pump long enough to allow the chemicals to take effect, then complete the other winterizing steps that are listed in our How To Winterize Your Swimming Pool guide.

what is the difference between regular algaecide & winter algaecide???
 Reply

A  Answered on 8/30/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Nadia. The Winter Algaecide has a lower active ingredient than a regular algaecide which means it's not as strong.

For a 20,000 gal pool drained halfway, should I us 15,000 or 30,000 winter kit?
 Reply

A  Answered on 8/7/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Alex V.

Sher, If you can not run the pump and filter, we do not recommend adding any chemicals as they can not be circulated. If you can run the pump and filter, I would recommend the 30,000-gallon kit.

I received my winterizing kit for 30K gal pool. The directions say to follow the bottle instructions on the Algecide (Halt 50?), and there are no clear instructions for winterizing application on the bottle. Which application would I use: Initial, Visible (no I have none), maintenance or booster? Thank you

A  Answered on 11/30/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Adam Y.

Good morning Kimberley, The maintenance dosage: 1-1/3 oz. per 10,000 gallons. This is used to kill and prevent algae from forming.

Is this safe for salt water pools? Do salt water pools require different winterizing steps?
 Reply

A  Answered on 9/29/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Scott W.

Yes, you would use the same kit to winterize your pool whether it is chlorine or saltwater pools.

Does the shock in this kit contain chlorine?? Is it safe for vinyl lined pools?
 Reply

A  Answered on 11/3/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Brian M.

Good day. Yes, this shock is safe for vinyl pools. The active ingredient in the shock is  sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione , or just simply Dichlor. It is a sodium based shock that is quick to dissolve and will not hurt the liner.

Closing up for the Winter.

Written on 12/12/2019 by Guest

Getting to know my pool is the first step and these guys make it easier for me. New to the pool scene and learning everyday. I made sure my system was balanced first. Cleaned any dirt, leaves, debris from the water and surrounding, followed the step by step on the box, blew out my lines, heater and salt cell(clean), plugged up returns and skimmer, organized all the parts in my pump basket so I don't miss-place them, covered the pool and we are ready for next season. Do not skip the steps on the box!!

winter pool closing

Written on 12/14/2017 by Guest

I went to my semi-local pool store to get a closing kit. I asked the young man on duty about the instructions for it. He said "just lower the water level and dump in all the chemicals at the same time and cover the pool". I asked if it was not necessary to make sure the chemicals circulate. He said "no" and that when they are hired to close a pool, they just dump them in. I did not think that was wise so I contacted Inyopools and ordered the closing kit. It arrived in a few days. I followed the instructions included in the kit. This procedure takes a day because you need to add and then let circulate and then drain some water (if you live where I live and it is going to freeze). This is my second year using this product and last spring when we took off the cover, the water was practically clear! I am very satisfied with this product and the correct instructions I get from Inyopools.
