What temperature is needed to cut the fiber ends ? I have a hot knife that heats to 900 degrees. Is that sufficient heat to trim the fiber ends cleanly ? The Fiberstars hot knife only states 60 watts. It does not give the heat rating.

Hi David, Yes 900 degrees would be sufficient.

My installer just finished installing these fiber optic cables but the light is uneven. My neighbor told me it was because he didn't use a hot knife. Is this true?

If the fiber was cut unevenly, this would likely cause the uneven distribution of light you're describing. I would also check the length of the cable and any bends along the perimeter.
