why does the fixture have to be submerged even to briefly test the lamp? I am concerned that the lamp may get damaged during shipping and I won't know until it is installed - which by the way-- the installation is not easy. Also do you sell another brand of replacement pool lights? The frame built into the pool does fit the Hayward model but not perfectly. My pool is about 50 years old.

Hi, Tim. Due to the high wattage, heat and making sure the fixture is bonded the manufacturer recommends the light to be submerged prior to being tested. We do sell other brands of Inground Pool & Spa Lights, the niche model is needed to confirm compatibility.

Can I use a lower wattage lamp in the 300 watt 120 astrolight ?

A     Answered on 9/11/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Tim. You can use a lower wattage bulb as long as the voltage of the bulb is the same as the fixture.

I have an in ground vinyl pool 11 years old. Need to replace light fixture. It is a SP580 with thermoplastic and glass SP-450-Z-1. Will the SPO582SL30 120V-300W work?

A     Answered on 6/18/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Greg, The Hayward 300W 120V SS Face Astrolite w/ 30 Ft cord can replace your current light, however you will want to verify the voltage and watts to make sure it will match.

is this model the same dimensions as sp- 542. I am looking to replace two lights, one with 30' cord & one with a 15' cord. Thanks for the help

A     Answered on 6/14/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

This light here is not the correct light. You would require the Hayward Duralite as a replacement for the Hayward SP542 light. The shortest cord available is 50' but the cord is designed to be cut.

Is the face rim stainless steel 314 or 308?

A     Answered on 3/17/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Robert M.

Hell Mahmoud - Hayward uses 304 stainless steel on the face rims.

Is it possible to replace the light housing while using the existing electric cable?

A     Answered on 6/1/2006 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

You cannot use your existing light cable.  You will need to pull the new cord through the conduit on the new light.
