Is this pump for a below ground pool or pond? Is it self priming and if so for up to 8"?? I am replacing an old pump that was a Hayward sp2800x5 that I have had in my below ground pond that circulates through a sand filter them a water fall.

Hi, Bill. This Hayward MaxFlo XL Pump 3/4 HP is a good replacement for the MaxFlo SP2800X5. It will provide you with a higher flow rate, so you will have to make sure that your filtration system is large enough.

Hi Brenda, there may be some minor plumbing that could need to be done however the pump unions can make installation a bit easier than other pumps that do not have them.
