Hi, This Pentair Intellichlor Salt Cell comes with a 15' cord and that is the longest cord available.

?     Asked on 8/5/2019 by Grey Coker

Cell light on unit will not come on. Possible problems. Red low salt on. Can't seem to add enough salt to get green light on.

A  Answered on 8/6/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Joe S.

In most cases when the Pentair Intellichlor IC40 Salt Chlorinator is not producing any chlorine, if the light is off, then the unit is in off mode. If the Cell light is on and flashing, it shows that the unit needs to be cleaned. You will need to check the cell and then clean the Pentair Intellichlor IC40 Salt Chlorinator as necessary.

The cell has been cleaned. What does "unit is in off mode" mean?

?     Asked on 7/30/2019 by

If you have this as the only cleaning system in your pool do you need to add salt or anything to the pool after installation and in general.

A  Answered on 7/30/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi. Using the IntelliChlor to sanitize your pool, you will have to add salt to maintain the proper level along with your pool chemistry like the pH, Total Alkalinity, etc.

Did you check your fuse in the transformer?

We have a Pentair pool and spa system that includes an EasyTouch control panel and an Intellichlor IC40 salt system. The circuit breaker for the Intellichlor salt system keeps tripping and the salt cell has no power. Does this mean the salt cell is bad and is there anything else I should look at before ordering a costly replacement cell? Thank you!

A  Answered on 10/25/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Joe S.

If you have a voltmeter you can measure the DC voltage going to the cell. Normally about 35 VDC if higher or lower you would need to replace the cell.

Is there a generic option

A  Answered on 7/8/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

We currently do not carry a generic salt cell for this model.

?     Asked on 7/6/2018 by Stacey

How do you increase the sanitizer output. There are buttons that say less/ more but they don’t work. Is there a trick? Mine is a 2% and like to increase a little... if possible

A  Answered on 7/7/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Stacey. Using the Less/More Buttons will increase or decrease chlorine productions. If the buttons are not responding, then there is an issue with the unit.

My IC40 salt cell is approximately 2.5 years old and none of the lights are coming on

A  Answered on 6/16/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi. You will need to check the Power Center, the Transformer or the Fuse.

?     Asked on 5/30/2018 by John

If I have an IntelliTouch power center, I can just wire the IC40 to it without having to buy the IntelliChlor powercenter, correct?

A  Answered on 5/30/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

You would need to confirm your specific Intellitouch model. Only certain models already have the power center in it for adding on an Intellichlor.

Could you please clarify your answer to Casey? I have the same question. Flow in the top and out the bottom. Why is the replacement cell showing a reversed flow? Please advise

A  Answered on 5/31/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Joe. The flow switch is now located on the bottom of the controller. I'm not sure why the design was changed.

?     Asked on 5/4/2018 by Casey

It appears that the controls are upside down compared to my old cell. Is there a way to get one with the flow coming in from the top and having the controls legible. Mine is mounted vertical

A  Answered on 5/4/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Casey. There is not a way to this cell is a different orientation.

?     Asked on 4/17/2018 by CP

You're showing the IC20 and IC40 as having the same dimensions. Is this correct? If so, one can upgrade from the IC20 to the IC40 without doing any piping modifications? I run the IC20 max and it has a hard time keeping up (even when new), I'm always having to supplement with CL.

A  Answered on 4/20/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

Yes, you can upgrade your cell with no modifications.

I want to acid clean the blades on my intelichlor ic20 but can't find the right sized end cap to seal one end. Can antone tell me the proper size? A 2" cap is too small and a 3" cap is too big.

A  Answered on 7/27/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Alex V.

Bob, If you have the Intellichlor cell, you will need the Intellichlor Acid Cleaning Kit.

?     Asked on 7/20/2017 by John Veasey

What's the best way to clean the cell?

A  Answered on 7/20/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Joe S.

Mix one quart of muriatic acid with one gallon of tap water in a plastic five (5) gallon bucket. Always add acid to the water, never add water to the acid. Always wear eye protection and use rubber gloves. Always work in a well-ventilated areaPlace the cell vertically in the bucket with the cap end down, as shown in right side illustration. Carefully pour the acid solution (as described above) into the cell until the blades are just covered. Allow the acid solution to bubble, and to clean the blades. The acid should only be contained in the cell and not around it. A foaming action will begin, which is caused by scale being dissolved from the plates. If rigorous foaming action does not begin, the cell does not need to be cleaned.

Hi, I'm not exactly sure what you're referring to, you can contact Pentair at 800.831.7133 or if the plastic piece does not prevent you from plugging the cell into the power supply then it should not be a problem.

What is the Pentair Intellichlor Dummy Cell used for?

A  Answered on 7/1/2009 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

The Dummy cell is basically a cell with no internal parts, this cell is used during cleaning of the real cell. So when you remove the real cell for cleaning you would put the dummy cell in place of the real cell. After you have finished cleaning the real cell you would remove the dummy cell from the plumbing and place the real cell back in place. You may view or purchase the Dummy Cell here >
