Hello Anne, with any drain cover there are only two options one must dive to bottom of pool and unscrew drain and rescrew or have a company drain the pool to get t the drain. There are divers that will do it.

Pros: Pretty Much Works
Cons: Cheaply made, doesn't stay together, doesn't stay in place, way overpriced
Does it work ..Yes! But it is cheaply made, the snaps that are suppose to hold the three outer sections together, keep coming apart. Because its so flimsy, it doesn't sit firmly on the bottom of the pool and can be pushed out of place by auto pool cleaner. 1st time I put it over the drain, it wouldn't sit flat because my drains are 2inches high and center of cover is 1 1/2. So I removed the center plastic piece and just used the outer ring. Unfortunately that makes it even lighter and floaty. So I cut the perforated center out and reattached the plastic disk to give it more weight, so that seems to be working. It should be a $20 item for how its made, but it "Does" keep my Tiger Shark pool cleaner from getting stuck on the drain.
