John, There are several things that can cause the cleaner to stay in one spot. I would recommend reading through the trouble-shooting in the owners manual.

Great White 9500 pool cleaner- 4 years old - does not turn, just runs in a straight line. Pentair said to replace the lift brush if the brush does not move when holding it upside down under water and observing the lift brush. The lift brush does not move. Seems to me I might need to replace something more than just the lift brush but don't know and don't want to order just the brush if I need something else. Any suggestions?

Hi, Mahoney. The issue could be the gears that engage the Lift Brush. The cleaner will need to be inspected inside in order to resolve this.
