Check valve assembly used on Hayward off-line chlorinators including CL220, CL220BR, CL110, CL110BR.  This part is vital to preventing backflow of chemicals to heaters.

Is check valve assembly the one with ball inside valve component?

Hi Phyllis, Yes the Hayward CLX220EA check valve has a little ball on the inside of it.

If there is no heater and the check valve (top part) comes loose, can you operate without it. This part has ball inside and threads on it.

Hi Judith, We would suggest not operating the chlorinator with the check valve for a prolonged period of time as the check valve is going to prevent the highly concentrated chlorine from back flowing to your equipment when the pump is turned off (preventing corrosion damage). It would most likely be fine to run with out a check valve while you are waiting for your new check valve to arrive but once again you would not want to do this for an extended period of time.

how do you install. can it be done while chlorinator attached to filter line? Just by reaching into chlorinator??

Hi, These fittings can be installed simply by unscrewing the fittings and replacing them, you will need teflon tape. The tubings can still be connected to the pvc lines.
