I have a Hayward Chlorinator with a cover that leaks. Perhaps it needs an O ring. Where is the O ring in the cover? Why would the cover be so difficult to turn?

Hi. If the o-ring has become stretch or swollen from absorbing water it can make the cover hard to remove. I will need to know the model of the Hayward Chlorinator in order to locate the correct lid o-ring.

The 5 3/4 by 5 3/4 is the right size for the o ring between filter and head valve. Am I correct. On the Hayward Sp714t

Hi. The O-ring - GMX600F which is 6-3/4" ID, 7-1/8" OD is the o-ring that goes between the Valve and Filter Tank. This Cover O-ring - SPX0714L is placed inside the valve.

NEED AN O RING FOR HAYWARD SAND FILTER --IT HOLDS 350 POUNDS OF SAND AND THE MODEL NUMBER IS S270T --PLEASE HELP

Hi Mary, so there are a few o rings for the Hayward model S270T sand filter. Please see this parts diagram for your filter to better confirm the o ring that you may need.

Carefully unscrew counterclockwise your existing pump skimmer lid. Use a pair of tweezers and slide the edge of the tweezers under the old O-ring, lift and rotate the lid as you raise the old O-ring out of its groove. Wash the lid with soap and water to remove any and all debris and algae from the O-ring groove. Use a liberal amount of petroleum jelly and wipe it into the O-ring groove. Take your new O-ring and start it into the groove being careful not to stretch it out. Once you get it started, the jelly will squish out of the groove and the O-ring will slide right into place. Wipe of any excess jelly and your good to go.

The old O ring was worn and warped

I tried to use the old O ring temporarily but I could not get the skimmer to close. So I ordered a new one on Sat. Got via UPS on Wednesday. Put new O ring on and it closed like a top.
