I have a Hayward Ultra Pro LX pump. I use vaseline to lubricate the strainer cover O-ring, and the under surface of the cover in contact with strainer housing. When I need to remove the cover to clean the strainer basket, it is extremely difficult to rotete the cover to the open position. What I do make the cover open and close operation less difficult Lubricant? Thanks
Paul, Do not use vaseline. Vaseline is petroleum based and will deteriorate the o-ring. You will need to clean the lid and replace the o-ring. You will need a water based or non-petroleum based lubricant.

(4 out of 5 stars) good quality

Pros: good quality, sturdy
Cons: expensive, very tight
this was bought as a replacement for and older lid...the fit is quite snug and although I'm having some problems with leakage, I think perhaps if I fit the o ring better it will be okay. It is, however, extremely tight and so difficult to turn the lid. IN general, I think poorly designed
