After replacing the pump motor and impeller everything was working well and very quiet. After about a month a slight noise began it never got loud. Yesterday the motor seized. After taking the motor off I found the impeller and diffuser locked together. What caused the failure? Attached are the pump number and the motor info. I need the proper diffuser and impeller. The diffuser number is 35-5029. No number found on the impeller.

Based on your pictures we are showing the diffuser to be part # 355077 ( 35-110-1724 ) for a 1hp pump. Impeller # 355074 (35-110-1714 ) Hard to answer based on the info, possible mismatch on old diffuser & new impeller? The almond series of this pump was not standard & all the replacement parts are.

30 yr old Pump not priming

Written on 5/4/2020 by Guest

Opened pump and found broken defuser. Replaced with new defuser. Reassembled pump. Still not priming. Ordered new pump and replaced. Glad I did. not worth time and aggravation to repair 30 yr old pump.

Original Diffuser had Broken Vein

Written on 5/8/2019 by Guest

Simple replacement. Separate the Challenger housing front by counterclockwise loosening of the Knob on the band clamp. Pull back the motor assembly exposing the Diffuser. Remove the 3 hex bolts holding the Diffuser on the plate seal. Remove old Diffuser and Install new. Repeat steps in reverse order. Depending on the age of the pump recommend replacing “O” rings on pump as you reassemble.
