the handle on my multiport valve has no resistance when i push it down to turn it. is this washer what the handle uses as a fulcrum to lift up the diverter inside?

There is a spring below the cover Spring, Praher ABS 1-1/2" and 2" Top/Side Mount Valves 27-253-1042 Missing broken spring would make it no have resistance to the motion of pushing down handle.

How do you remove handle?

Hello, you will need to remove the pin out of the handle and it will come apart from the rotor stem. The valve assembly can then be disassembled.

Cracked washer preventing valve from seating properly

Written on 9/23/2023 by Guest

I removed the screws at the top of the spider valve to separate the top from the body. Next, I put the valve in a midway position and punched out the pin holding the handle onto the shaft. With the handle removed, I took the opportunity to grease the o-rings on the shaft while I had everything taken apart. From there, it was just removing the old washer, putting the new one on, and putting it back opposite how it was taken apart. The opening in the plate points in the direction of the setting. It’s good to have someone to get the pin started while the other person holds the plate down since it’s spring loaded.

Washer Had Broken Under the Multi-Function Valve Handle

Written on 5/18/2022 by Guest

Removed the screws on the top of the multi-function valve.
Pried the top loose with a straight blade screwdriver.
Took the top to my work bench where I had a vise available to hold the top tightly.
Had to use a punch to punch out the pin holding the handle to the valve.
Handle came off, removed pieces of the old washer and placed new washer on the stem.
Placed handle on the stem and tapped the pin back into place.
Be sure to pay attention that the handle goes back on in the exact same position that you took it off.
Placed the multi-function valve back on sand filter and tightened it down with the screws.
