Although 2 of these solar pills would be adequate, I would recommend using 3. All pools will experience splash out and evaporation. When you add water to the pool you will be diluting the chemicals inside of the solar pill.

Will this prevent heat loss as well as a eight mill solar blanket? I have solar, and the blanket helps to preserve the heat. If the pill cannot work as well, then all that heat will be lost.

Hello Brian- I would recommend going with Natural Chemistry COVER FREE 1 Gallon - 07109 as this would be the closest to having an actual cover as you can get.

Make sure to put 2 holes in the ball and set it in the skimmer or the pool. It will take about a week to empty out (shake the ball a few times when swimming). It cut my heat loss from 5 degrees to only 2 degrees overnight. I feel that it works better than the other products and is well worth the price.

I feel this product works better than some of the other products as I am getting only a 2 degree loss compared to a 3 degree loss overnight.
