What is pH?

A  Answered on 11/30/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

pH is a measure of how acidic or basic the pool water is. Low pH can cause eroding of pool plaster, corroding of metal accessories, metals falling "out of solution", burning of eyes, etc. High pH can cause dull cloudy water, burning of eyes, skin irritation, etc.

How much ph decreaser do I add if the ph is above 8.4 . for a 40k gallon pool

Hello, Unfortunately, because we are not physically there to test the water. We would not know. We recommend going to your local pool store to test the water and see what they recommend.
