Product Description

The Uniclor Model 600

    • The UNICLOR converts salt into its two basic elements: chlorine and sodium. A 40 pound bag of water softener salt contains 24 pounds of pure chlorine. This is the same amount of chlorine contained in 37 pounds of calcium hypochlorite or 55 gallons of household bleach.

  • The UNICLOR cell is divided into 2 chambers. An 80 pound bag of salt is poured into one chamber and water is added to the second chamber.
  • No hazardous material is handled or stored.
  • When the pool pump is turned on, the power supply sends a low voltage DC current to the cell at a power level selected by turning a knob.
  • When the salt brine is electrolyzed, the chlorine and sodium are seperated. The chlorine bubbles up through the salt solution and is drawn from the cell with a vacuum created by the venturi. The sodium is drawn to the cathode where it becomes 3% sodium hydroxide solution which is mixed with the chlorine and drawn from the cell by the venturi to help balance the pH.
  • Seperation of the two solutions is maintained because they are two different densities. The sodium hydroxide is lighter than the salt brine and therefore "floats" on top. The anode is in the salt brine and the cathode is just above the salt brine in the sodium hydroxide solution.
  • Effectively chlorinates up to 30,000 gallons

System Components

  • System contains Power Supply, Cell & Venturi
  • Includes Associated Fittings & Tubing

Sanitizing Capacity

  • The UNICLOR model 600 will provide chlorine necessary to sanitize most residential pools up to 30,000 gallons.

Maintenance Requirements

  • The average residential pool will use three to four 40 pound bags of salt per year. Consumption will vary according to bather load and weather
  • A simple electrode replacement may be necessary after 3 to 6 years of residential service. More frequent service my be required in commercial applications.
  • The UNICLOR system can be configured to accommodate almost any water treatment application. The system configuration will dictate the exact maintenance required.

Cost of Operation

  • In addition to salt and anodes the UNICLOR system requires electricity, approximately 1.8 KWH per pound of chlorine produced. Total operating costs for a normal residential pool is about 11 cents per day.

What makes up the "cell" in this unit and is this "cell" used in each of the three models - 600, 1200 and 2400

The "cell" for these units is composed of two parts: the cathode kit (item 2500-23) and the anode kit (item 2500-22). This pair is used in all three models.

Currently using a unichlor 600 on a 25,000 gal in ground gunite pool that is 20 + years old. The salt tank is cracked and I see the parts are no longer available. Not sure what way to go now, suggestions?
