Hello Michael - The BC3060 is a little undersized. You would find yourself having to backwash it often. We would recommend a 27" filter.

What would be a good size for a 10,000 gallon above ground pool?
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/7/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Julian, This size filter will be okay to use on a 10,000 gallon above ground pool if the pump you have does not exceed the 50 GPM flow rating of this filter.

I need to replace a pacfab nautalis stainless de filter, I'm using a 1.5hp Hayward superpump for a 20,000 gallon inground pool. Would this be the best choice and what should I be looking for in my new filter?
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/19/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Tony, This filter is a sand filter which is slightly different than your DE filter. The benefit to a DE Filter is that it will filter smaller particles than a sand filter. The benefit of a sand filter is that it is much easier to clean and maintain then a DE filter. If you are looking at making the jump over to sand then this would be the filter I would suggest. If you are looking at staying with DE then I like the Hayward DE4820 filter for your sized pool.

What size sand filter do I need for a 25000 gallon pool?
 Reply

A  Answered on 6/25/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

This would not only be based on the gallons or surface area of the pool but also by the gallons per minute rating on the pump used. Please compare that rating to a compatible filter gpm rating to size the filter accordingly. The more gpm rating over what the pump does will only benefit the pool. I would look to use a sand filter rated at around 3.5 sq ft to 4.95 sq ft if the pump and system are compatible with it.

Will this filter handle a 1hp high flow in ground pump
 Reply

A  Answered on 8/6/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

This filter is designed to only handle up to 50 gallons per minute so it is very likely that the 1 horse power pump that you have moves more water than that. Please make sure that the gallons per minute rating based on the total feet of head on your pump matchs or is less than the gallons per minute maximun on the filter you consider.

It is a pac-fab pump 35-5038 a magnetek 1 hp motor 35-5339 and a sandmaster filter sm-1700 sm-1900 or sm-2300. I'm not sure which filter I have. I'm looking for a filter that will match. It is only 10 thousand gallon in ground pool.

Hi Dave, If you use 1-1/2" plumbing the 24" Sand Filter Top Mount will be suitable to use.

I am finally forced to replace my DE filter and am thinking about a sand filter. I have a 16x32 inground pool, 20000 gallons 4ft-8ft. My pump is a Hayward 1.5 super pump. What sand filter would you suggest and will I really notice the difference of clarity?
 Reply

A  Answered on 6/14/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Tony, I would suggest this 24" sand filter for a 16' x 32' inground pool with a 1.5 HP pump. The DE Filter will filter out smaller particles than the sand filter but I can't notice to the naked eye, I like sand because they are so easy to maintain.

Any benefits in buying this generic one over the Hayward 24 inches which you sell for slightly more? I've currently got a starite t-240bp-1 which came with my home. It's leaking from the neck of the filter and also the handle /lever area. I figured I'd change the complete valve but it's no longer available on here. Question is shall I replace the whole unit or purchase that replacement multiport valve and replumb ?

Good morning Frederick, They are pretty much the same in size, quality, and price. I would recommend going with the Hayward based on popularity and you have a stronger chance at getting replacement parts years down the road.

A  Answered on 6/5/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi. If you're getting sand back into the pool it could be a few thing. Adding too much sand, exceeding the filter's max flow rate and or a damaged lateral can cause sand to get back into the pool.
