Can this filter be used on a salt pool or will the filter corrode?

There isn't a pump/filter system specifically designed for salt water pools. You can use the NE6145 but the shaft seal will wear prematurely and will need to be replaced at least once a season.

how often and how do you clean the filter?

Its best to backwash sand filters once a week during the swim season. You would need to place the multiport valve in the backwash position when the pump is turned off and then run for 30 seconds. Then place the valve into the rinse position again when the pump is off then run for 10 seconds. Repeat this procedure two more times and then you're done.

I see this does not have a strainer housing. Does that need to be purchased separate or do I not need one with this type of sand pump?

Hello Olivia, These pumps don't need a strainer housing the Sandman 12" Sand Filter System With 1/2 Hp Pump is made for Intex style pools.

I have a 3 year old 16x48 intex pool and having trouble vacumming so I want to upgrade to a regular pump and sand filter to see if I can get better suction with the hose as the intex one just doesn't seem strong enough to suck anything up.... also I,ve modified my pool with an outside skimmer through the pool wall so what size hoses go with this system so it will fit

James, You can use a 1.5" hose adapter with this filter and pump. The hose adapter can accommodate both 1 1/4" and 1.5" hose.

I just bought the sand man NE6145, is there a hose that goes from pump, to the round filter tank?, if so do it hook up to the WASTE pipe?

Hi, Bill. There is a pump to filter hose that hooks up to the pump port on the valve. Check our the BlueWave Sandman NE6145 Manual.

What is best way to prime the pump? it does not have clear plastic cover to t[=lift off to prime, thx
Reply
Hi. To prime this pump the water level of the pool has to be 2-3 feet above the pump suction line.

When I first ran my pump after the install and priming the system I had great pressure for maybe 5 mins. Now I barely have any pressure from my return line. I've checked for leaks I've checked for clogs and can't seem to figure it out.

Hi, Marcus. Check the filter pressure, if high, backwash the filter. If the pressure is fine and is free from any clog lines and air leaks the water quality may be the cause.
