Does everything needed to install the filter and pump come with this? For example, pipe fittins, pump-to-filter fittings & plumbing, etc.

None of the plumbing comes with this system. The system would include the pump, filter and multiport valve on Sand and DE filters (cartridge filters do not require a multiport valve). Any additional plumbing or fittings would be purchased locally at a hardware store.

How many hours per day should I run my pump?
 Reply

There are many factors to consider; bather load, gallons of water, pump horsepower, type and size of filter just to name a few. A good guideline is 8-10 hours a day. On the cooler days and early and late season, you can cut the run time down to 4-6 hours because there is usually less swimmers and cooler water requires less chemicals. In peak season, when it is the hottest, raising the run time to 10-12 hours per day will help to keep the pool clean and circulating during it’s time of heaviest use.

I would recommend inspecting any seals/gaskets on the suction side of the pump. You may have an air leak.

Does the base to sit the filter and the pump come with the package?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/25/2014 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Tom - This package comes with the base / skirt for the filter and the base for the pump, but it does not come with the equipment pad that they both sit on. Typically you will have 2' x 3' concrete slab which the equipment will set on top of, if you do not have a concrete slab and don't want to pour one then there are 2' x 3' plastic pool equipment pads which you may purchase.

How does a two speed pump work? Is it automatic or do you have to switch it. Is the low speed really more efficient? Can you prove the low speed has a 75% reduction in elec.

Hi Gary, A two speed pump work by allowing you to circulate at 1725/3450 RPM. The motor has a switch where you can manual adjust it from Hi/Lo speed or you can wire it to a two speed timer which will automatically switch the speed for the time that you set it too. When on low speed it will use less energy verses when its running on Hi speed. On average you can reduce you pool power consumption by 75% but it all depends on the pump you had prior and how long you let the pool run on low speed.

How many pounds of zeolite or glass beads would be needed for this filter? Could I get by with a smaller filter with either of these? Pool is 24k gals.

This filter holds 300lbs of filter sand. The Zeolite equivalent is 1lb of Zeolite for every 2lbs of filter sand. You would need 150lbs of Zeolite. I would recommend this filter for the size pool you have.

can i use a hayward model # S-244T filter with a 1 hp superpump

Hi. Yes, you can as long as it will meet your pool's filtration needs and the pump does not exceed the filters flow rate of 62 GPM. You can use Inyo's How To Measure Total Dynamic Head With Gauges or How Do I Calculate Feet of Head for My Pool? to determine if this pump and filter will meet your pool needs.
