What is heater protection?

The heater protection / fireman's switch shuts the heater off 10 minutes before the pump shuts off to protect your pool equipment.

Is there a timer for coordinated control of a pump and an electric in-line heater?
 Reply

Hi Robert, There is not a timer that can control a heater and pump. Heaters are not put on timers because they are activated by the water flow.

The time dial keeps sticking, causing the pump not to turn on. Time for a new timer or is there a fix?

Hello Linda, depending on what model you have and hooked up for 220v please check inside unit to check model.

My pump and heater both run off of 120V circuits. Will this timer work for me?

Hi, Todd. You will  need the T101P201 model for 120 volt operation.

Hello, I have an Intermatic T104P201 timer for my pool, it's 16 years old, doesn't seem to be advancing and turning pool on/off. Is the T104M the correct replacement mechanism? The box is in good condition. I don't have a heater on the pool, so not sure why I haven this timer, but it's always worked well until now. Many thanks, JL

I have a pool pump and booster pump, both with timers. Can I use this to ensure that the booster pump doesn't run without the main pump being on? So, basically instead of wiring it to the heater, I could send the signal to the booster pump instead?

Hi, Eric. Unfortunately, that is not how this timer will work. The Heater relay will not be able to control a pump. The T10404R will meet your needs.

how do you test the function of the fireman's switch? I have an intermatic T104P201 with the firemans switch connected to a Jandy JXI pro series heater. I want to confirm that it is in fact shutting down the heater 20 mins before the pool filter. Thanks

Hi, Kevin. Your heater will not operate if the switch isn't working. You can test the switch to see if it is open (good) closed (bad) while the unit suppose to be running.
