Will a gas heater operate at the low speed of a dual speed motor?
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/16/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Probably not - Most gas heater will shut off at low GPM levels (20-40) to keep the heater cores from overheating - 20 for 200 BTUs, 40 for 400 BTUs. Depending on your pool system you might get these GPM levels at the low speed but generally these heaters must be run at the motor's high speed.

What size is the gas input?

The gas line necessary for your heater is dependant upon the distance from the gas source:The line size is listed with the corresponding distance below:Line Size - Distance (in Feet)3/4" Line = 0 - 25'1" Line = 26' - 50'1" Line =  51' - 100'1-1/4"Line = 101' - 200'1-1/4" Line = 201' - 300'

what year did model 460730 come out ? what is the newest above the ground natural gas around 200,000 btu heater ?
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/24/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Bea, The MasterTemp heat pump came out about 7-8 years ago however the manufacture continues to make improvements to the heater every year. The inventory we sell would be the latest inventory being manufactured which normally a few months from manufacture date. The heater on this page would be the one I would suggest for 200,000 BTU heater going on an above ground pool.

Hi Dave, There are several issues that can prevent this unit from not heating, you can go through the Pentair Heater Mastertemp Owners Manual to self troubleshoot the unit or have a Pool Professional come out to take a look at your unit.

What should the salt level be for this heater?
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/21/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

These units do not require a certain salt level but are not recommended in salt water swimming pools for they do not have the cupronickel heat exchangers.

I have your natural gas heater. What does r13 mean? When I turn the heater on that is the first thing that showed up on the screen. The the heater turns on ,but gives readings up to and past 200 before I turn it off. Something is wrong. Can I fix it?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/18/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

R13 is the revision number of the board. As for the 200 reading, it could be a bad thermistor or board.
 Reply

A  Answered on 8/15/2019 by Industry Professional

The R13 is the revision code, we would need more information to help troubleshoot this unit.
