Will a gas heater operate at the low speed of a dual speed motor?
 Reply

Probably not - Most gas heater will shut off at low GPM levels (20-40) to keep the heater cores from overheating - 20 for 200 BTUs, 40 for 400 BTUs. Depending on your pool system you might get these GPM levels at the low speed but generally these heaters must be run at the motor's high speed.

I'm at 8200' elevation.. I have a 300 sq ft hot tub. I want a 104 degree max heat. Which heater should I buy
 Reply

A  Answered on 12/17/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Joe S.

Hey Cynthia, yes if you are looking for a heater that would work at max 104 for a spa, then the MasterTemp Heater 300,000 BTU - LP w/ Electric Ignition Low NOx - 460735 would be right. Keep this in mind BTU ratings would not only be affected by the body of water but also the gas line running to the unit. If you are replacing a similar sized BTU rated heater your good to go, increasing or decrease we recommend checking with your installer to make sure.

I recommend using our How Long Does It Take to Heat a Pool? http://www.inyopools.com/blog/long-take-heat-pool/ to determine the best BTU size for the heater. I am not sure what the depths are of the pool and the shape of the pool is to correctly suggest a heater for your needs. It is advised to also compare the current Pipe Sizing For Gas Connections that you are currently using to make sure the increased BTU size will accept the current, if they will not you will want to contact a local gas company to have a quote provided for the change before ordering. Which Is Best: A Swimming Pool Heater or Heat Pump? http://www.inyopools.com/blog/swimming-pool-heater-or-heat-pump/
