What is the warranty for this heater?
Reply
The heater ( 461059 ) carries a 2 year warranty as long as the unit is installed by a Qualified Installer and registered within 60 days. Otherwise the warranty is 60 days.

Could you please explain what do you define as a qualified installer
Reply
Hi John, Manufactures consider a licensed and ensured pool professional that you pay a qualified installer. Also for heaters and heat pumps a HVAC technician would also be considered a qualified installer, The local homeowner or the jack of all trades who does the repairs on the side would not be considered a qualified installer.

My pool is 16 x 32' &salt chlorinated. I am considering a heater that can raise temp by 10 degrees. Will this heater work?
Reply
Terry, Base on your pool surface area a 125K heater will not be the correct size. You'll need at least the MasterTemp 200,000 BTU, NG w/ Electric Ignition, Low NOx Heater.

I NEED A THERMOSTAT FOR A PENTAIR ABOVE GROUND POOL HEATER DESCRIBED AS: MINIMAX (TM) CH HIGH PERFORMANCE MILLIVOLT HEATER. THERE IS NO ELECTRICITY FEED TO THIS POOL HEATER. PLEASE RESPOND TO PROVIDE A SOURCE FOR THIS THERMOSTAT. THE3 HEATER IS APPRPOXIMATELY 10 YEARS OLD.. THANKS

Hi Joseph, for the Pentair Minimax CH Heater you would require the Pentair Minimax CH Thermostat.

I have a 24' round pool ... would this be sufficient to raise the temperature 5-10 degrees and would I need to purchase anything else to get this pool ready???
Reply
Vera, This would be sufficient for a 24' round pool. I would recommend using a solar blanket with the heater. Other than a gas line present at your home and material to plumb the heater in, you do not need anything else to install the heater.
Reply
I currently have a 24' by 48 in round above ground and will replace it with a 24' by 54 in round above ground. That will make it about 15,268 gal. What size btu do I need?
Reply
Hi Dan, A sufficient heater size for your pool will be between 200-300 BTU in thousands. Now the larger you go the better. Going bigger on a pool heater increases your longevity of the heater and cuts down on your expenses to use it. It will heat faster in a shorter period as well as not having to work so hard to heat it.

What does the code E06 mean?

I have a pool size of 18' x 36' x4'. Would the 125K heater be sufficient enough to heat this pool? Or the next size larger heater. Please explain why or why not. Thanks
Reply
Hi Bob, A 125K BTU Heater is not sufficient for an 18' x 36' pool. This size heater will have to work overtime to get the pool to your desired temperature. This unit will raise your pool temperature less than 1 degree per hour. Based on the surface area of your pool you will need a 200K BTU unit to raise you pool temperature by 1 degree per hour.

Looking to buy a natural gas pool heater for my above ground 12x24 oval pool. What brand and BTU would be good for this size? We would like to have the temp of pool be around 80+ degrees. And do any of the heaters ever go on sale in fall or spring? Thx

Hello,Toni. The RayPak 156A Digital Control - 150K BTUs - Natural Gas, ELE (5000-9999 FT) - 014785 is a good fit for a pool your size. The heaters do not have a set schedule for sales. I recommend entering your email address on our site for promotional email and an instant reward code when entered. Will this heater replace the Pentair Mini Max?
Reply
Yes, that would be a great replacement for the Mini Max. Just make sure you have around the same BTU's with the Master Temp as you do your Mini Max.

We live in Ohio and need to winterize our new Pentair Mastertemp 125 heater.
Is there anything we need to drain or specifically do? Does it need to be covered.
Reply
Hey Laura, please refer to page 46. in your owners manual. MASTERTEMP®125For outdoor heaters in freezing climates, shut the heater down and drain it for winter as follows: 1. Turn off electrical supply to the heater and pump. 2. Close main gas control valve and manual gas valve (located outside the heater). Turn switch on heater gas valve to OFF. 3. Disconnect the INLETand OUTLETunionsfromthe systemplumbing, and drain the heat exchanger andmanifold adapter completely. If the heater is below pool water level, be sure to close isolation valvesto prevent draining the pool (isolation valves are not required and should not be used on heatersinstalled above pool water level except when needed for winterizing valves). Assist the draining by blowing out the heat exchanger through the pressure switch fitting with low pressure compressed air (lessthan 5 PSI or 35 kPa).

Do any heaters and filters have medal bodies vs fiberglass?
Reply
The outside of the heaters are plastic and the filters are either plastic or fiberglass depending on what kind of filter you get.

Will this heater work with a ComPool p3400 pool/spa control system? I want to control the spa temp from indoors on the control panel.

Is the P3400 a automation system or a salt system, I am not seeing any information on that system and CompuPool is no more?

I have an above ground 12x24 pool (52 inches deep) with sand filter and salt water converter. Would this heater work and can it be used with the flexible water piping the pool came with. Also is the install portion just for the gas line or does it need to be for the water piping also?
Thank you!
Reply
Hi, Kellie. This size heater is sufficient for your size pool. I would recommend using flexible PVC or standard PVC pipes for the water connection installation. The gas line and water connection have to be done by a professional technician.

Do you have a list of qualified installers available by chance?

Hello, I apologize, but we don't have a list of qualified installers for Pentair products. If you would like to contact Pentair 800.831.7133 and contact tech support for a list of who they have in your area that they recommend to install heaters.

will this work for my 18x33 above ground pool .also does it come with water couplings to attach to unit.

If you are only heating an above ground pool I recommend a heat pump over a heater. What state do you live in so I can recommend the appropriate size heat pump for your pool?

Can you elaborate on a heat pump vs heater? I have an above ground 18' by 48" thank You

I have a 4,000 gallon inground & indoor pool. What size heater will I need?

Hi, Don. Heaters are size based on the pool's surface area. However, this 125K BTU is adequate to heat an indoor 4K gallon pool.

I have a minimax 100 for my pool. Looks like it finally rusted through after 12 years. Do you still make that model? I've looked and can't find it. If not what would you recommend that would be compatible to the present one I have. Thanks for your time.

Hi, Brian V. The MiniMax Series Heaters are no longer being manufactured. This Pentair MasterTemp 125K Heater can be used as a replacement.

I have a 24' x 54" AGP, I see that the 125K unit will work. How many degrees F per hour will it heat and what is the cost or CFPM of gas that will be required to heat for 1 hour? Is the NG unit 110 volt? How many amps?where does it go, on the return?
Reply
Hi, Bob. You can get about 3/4° temperature increase using 1.25 Therm per hour. This unit requires a 120 / 240 Volts AC, single phase 15 Amps electrical connection.

I have a 24 ft AGP. The heating element /igniter has to be replaced about every other week. Why is that?
*I have owned the heater for just over a year.

Hi, Ben. I'm not sure why that is. The cause of the failures will need to be determined to resolve this issue. Start out by testing the Ignition Control Module - 42001-0052S, instructions can be found on page Page 41 - of the MasterTemp High Performance Heater Owners Manual.

I have ordered a union kit to replace the one that is currently there. I can't seem to find replacement pvc fittings that are long enough to go into the Union kit. The fittings and hoses come out when i start up the pump. Any ideas where to purchase connections that will work with the Union Kit?

I'm just looking to heat my spa - circular approximately 8 feet across. Is there benefit to spending the $$ to get the 400,000 BTU top line model? Will the heating time to 102 degrees be substantially slower? Thanks.
Reply
Hi, Tom B. The 400,000 model will heat the spa faster than this 125,000 model. Based on your size spa a 400K model will be overkill.

Hello, I'm looking to use this to heat a 2100 gallon hydrapool swimspa year round? Can these units be connected to the spapack? I'd like to bypass the NG heater thermostat and use only the spa thermostat to call for heat. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

As long as the spa pak has adequate circulation you can use it through this heater. You will need to control the heater with the thermostat on the heater itself though. Please verify what size of pump you have for circulation

Hi, Mike. You will need to troubleshoot the unit by testing the Hi-Limit and or the Temperature Sensors. Instructions are available in the MasterTemp High Performance Heater Owners Manual.

Can I use this heater with salt water?
Reply
I would not recommend using this unit on a saltwater pool and the closest Mastertemp that I would recommend is model 460806. However, if you have a 125k model present then you may need to change the gas lines so it may be wise to have a gas company perform a site evaluation for you to confirm.
