Can I use an existing Polaris booster pump, with this cleaner?

Yes if you already have a Polaris booster pump you would be able to use your existing booster pump in conjunction with this cleaner. No need to purchase a second booster pump.

What is a booster pump, and where does it attach to?

This cleaner is designated as a pressure side cleaner which means:Pressure Pool Cleaners most pressure cleaners require a booster pump which is typically a ¾ horse power pump that is dedicated for use with the cleaner alone. The booster pump allows you to operate the pressure cleaner without taking any suction away from your main pool pump. The addition of the booster pump does mean pressure cleaners require a more involved installation than either suction or robotic cleaners. The booster pump is installed in tandem with your pool pump.

Can I use the Polaris 480 cleaner with a Pentair variable speed pump instead of a booster pump?
Reply
No, you would need the booster pump in order to use the Polaris 480. If you didn't want to buy a booster pump, you would need a cleaner that doesn't require a booster pump like the Polaris 360.

What is the difference between the Polaris 380 and the Polaris 480?
Reply
The main difference between the Polaris 380 and the 480 is the body design and the fact that the 480 has the tank trax. The tack trax is a thick rubber belt that covers the 2 wheel side that gives the cleaner better traction. Also, the Polaris 380 has 3 jets and the 480 has 4. Both require the use of a booster pump (sold separately).
