Hi Tim, Yes this item is returnable. Your filter should have a label on the side and if it says PLM 100, 125, 150, 175, 200, 300 or PLD50 or PLD70 then this is the correct o-ring for you. The o-ring on this page was for these models of filters from 1997 to current, if your filter is before 1997 then you would require the 27001-0060S o-ring.

The cord ring I have is a little stretched out. Is there a way to shrink it a little? It's been fine until this year

James,No, unfortunately due to wear and tear, once an o-ring stretches out, you can't shrink it back to the original size.

Good day. I spoke to a technician at Pentair ( who now ownes Sta-Rite ) and one of the older Sta-Rite techs and he said that the Pre 97 o-ring is thicker than the Post-97. His suggestion was to purchase the Post-97 and, if need be, just add extra lube to complete the seal. Unfortunately, there is no other difference in the tank configuration to tell the time period, other that the sticker with either the pump model or the serial number. Pentair would be able to then tell you the year of the filter tank. If you can find either of those, please give Pentair a call at 800-831-7133.

How Can I tell which one I need? I dont see a manufacture date.
Hi, Patrick. You can measure the o-ring that you have. The 27001-0060S Pre-3/97 is 15-11/16" ID, 3/8" and the 27001-0061S 3/97-Current is 15-1/4" ID, 3/8".
