Is there any way to get JUST the float? I got a new valve but it came with a more rectangular shaped float that won't work within my filler box.

Hello David - Unfortunately the float is not available separately.

Does this auto fill kit work with hot water if I wanted to convert my portable carpet cleaning extractor to autofill?

It depends upon how hot your water source is. This will work as long as your water source is 120 degrees or less.
