What is Service Factor?

Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

Is this a direct replacement for a Northstar SPX1610Z1MNS? I saw confirmation that it is a replacement for SP1610 but not SPX1610

Yes, that would be the direct replacement motor for your Northstar.

I am replacing the motor on an Heyward Northstar SP4010x15 pump, originally installed in 2006. I believe I need the motor part # 5112-061, 1.5HP motor on this page. I think I also need the Motor Shaft seal (In this model and year, is it the impeller kit I need? I want to get it all done at once, and make sure it does not leak.) Please let me know exactly what parts to order, and I will get it done! Thanks

Hi, Steve. This SP1610Z1MNS motor is the correct replacement motor. To ensure pump seal and impeller compatibility, you will need to get the Impeller Kit - SPX4010CKIT

I have a Hayward Northstar Pump SP1610-Z-1-MNS and looks to be part number 8 187630 02. Is this the correct pump replacement? I only ask because that model number is different.

Is this the impeller kit for this motor? If I buy this, I do not need to purchase a shaft seal assembly since it comes with it? Impeller Kit, 1 Fullrate - 1 1/2 Hp Uprate (spx4010ckit) http://www.inyopools.com/Products/07501352019577.htm I was going to use this motor to replace a Hayward Northstar Pump 1.5 HP SP1610-Z-1-MNS

I have a Hayward Northstar self priming pool pump SP1610Z1MNSC. I assume from the Q&As that this is the right replacement. If it is, what else do I need to replace the pump - like a seal, etc? See pictures. Do you also have instructions on how to replace?

The motor is the correct replacement, see images we added for part #'s needed to rebuild the pump.
