Ideally, every time you open the tank to clean or inspect you should wipe off the old lube and put new on.

I have a Hayward DE4800 Micro Clear. This o-ring works at first, but after the second start up of the pump, it leaks. I re-lubed it four times and same results. I can run the pump for four days straight after I lube it up and no leaks, but once the pump sits idle after a night, the next time it starts up, it drips. It appears this new o-ring is just a hair too small in thickness for my filter. Any suggestions? Thanks

I have a Blue Haven Hayward filter model 4025 filter, I think? It has black steel clamp with the spring loaded nut. I received an update from Blue Haven for parts and it say c4520bhme. The o-ring currently installed is rubber without the steel reinforcement suggested by the new model number. Will this rubber seal work with my filter? Thanks for any help or assistance you can offer.
