How do you install a new basket support ring? Old one broke and bought the spx1082d for our sp1082 skimmer from 1989. Ring can't be installed from the top. Does the skimmer need to be removed or can it be inserted somehow?

I installed a new ring through the intake door/port from the pool. Depressed the flapper and inserted the ring from that side.

Hi Dana,
The new support ring can be installed by slipping it through the throat of the skimmer, or from the opening from inside the pool. It has to go in on an angle to start and will sit flat once you get it where it is supposed to sit.

My skimmer support ring is cracked 1/2 of the way around. Could the crack be the cause of a loss in flow with the skimmer Itself or is it merely to hold the basket in place and not overly important to fix if it’s still holding the basket in place? Secondly how would I go about fixing it if I have to? I assume since the original is glued down somehow I would need to drain the pool down and attach a new one using what kind of adhesive product?

Hi, Christina. This ring is used primarily to hold the basket in place, it will not reduce suction loss. Once installed no adhesive is required.The ring is installed through the mouth of the skimmer.

My basket support ring is broken half way but the remaining half is glued in place. Any idea on how I can remove it?

Hi, HC. I would recommend using like a putty knife to remove the broken piece that is glued in.

My broken ring has the number SP1075-E stamped on it. This ring has a round notch on the back and it snaps in place on the skimmer. The replacement suggested is the SPX1082D it is smooth and has no notches or any way to secure it in the skimmer itself.... Help?

The ring just sits in place & the basket goes thru the middle & the basket lip will sit on the ring while water & gravity hold in place. The original is in fact No Longer Available.
