I need a replacement rebuild gasket kit for my A. O. Smith 2.2 HP SQ1152 Model No. K48M2PA105C4. Any suggestions?

A  Answered on 1/6/2020 by InyoPools Product Specialist Matt S.

Hello - the gasket kit for a pool pump is matched to the pump housing. The housing is the body of the pump that holds the strainer basket, lid, and the motor bolts to.

I have a ao smith model #B2984T. Will this work? Mine has a control box sitting where the capacitor cover is on top? Does this vet removed? Please help! Thanks

A  Answered on 5/25/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Ryan, the B2984T is a dual speed motor with digital controller which was discontinued by the manufacturer. This B2984 would work as a replacement but it will be a single speed motor and not dual speed. You would replace your entire motor and controller with this motor and you would no longer have that controller on top of the motor.

I have a AO Smith 2 hp motor part # 7- 193995-07 and a Jandy Stealth pump model # SHPF2.OCP. Because I live in California I have to replace this motor with a 2 speed or a variable speed. I have chosen the 2 speed part #B2984 and replacement seals : Backplate O-ring R0446300, Diffuser & Impeller hardware R0446500, Lid seal & Lid O-ring R0446200 and Shaft Seal OEM R0445500. Please let me know if I have the correct parts and numbers for replacing my motor.

A  Answered on 2/21/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Tom. All those parts are correct except I will need the serial number of your pump in order to confirm the correct shaft seal.

I had an order cancelled today because the sq 1202 motor was not Cal title 20 compliant. Is this motor compliant and will it fit a starite max e glas ii pump? Also, do I need to replace my existing timer.

A  Answered on 10/10/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Andy O.

Hello Bill- Yes the 2 HP Dual Spd. Motor - Full Rate (B984, B2984) will work with your Max-e-glas pump. If you currently have a T104 timer you can purchase the Pool Timer Dual Speed Pump Timer - T106R to add on to your current timer. And as always we recommend purchasing the seal kit when you replace your motor Tune Up Kit Sta-Rite Dura-Glas & Max-E-Glas Pump 1998 To Present - GOKIT54.

What is the correct run capacitor for this motor?

A  Answered on 6/23/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi. We do not carry the Run Capacitor for this motor. However, it requires a Dual Run Capacitor 35 + 10 MFD / 370 VAC - 195662-35.

What causes the pump to make loud noise? I have a jandy ao smith century 2 speed motor. What year is this motor?

A  Answered on 12/27/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Andy O.

Hello Jane- The motor will start to make loud noises because of the bearings going. The only way to tell the age of a motor is by the serial number and calling the MFG for them to figure it out, Here is an article that my help explain what is going on with your motor:https://www.inyopools.com/Blog/pool-pump-loud/.

Can you direct me to the proper hi low switch for this motor?

A  Answered on 1/18/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Unfortunately the manufacturer does not offer the switch for the 2 speed 220v motors any longer. If you already have a 220 volt timer (on/off) you would need an Intermatic T106R to switch from high to low speed. If you do not have a timer currently you would need the T10604R which is a 220v on/off timer and a high/low timer.

Why should I purchase a Tune Up Kit?

A  Answered on 1/12/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

A Tune Up Kit includes all of the essential replacement seals and gaskets for the pump. The seals and gaskets should be replaced when installing a new motor on your pump. New seals will prevent the pump from leaking water or losing the prime. A Tune Up Kit will protect your motor and ensure that the pump is working efficiently.

Why do I need to purchase a new shaft seal?

A  Answered on 1/12/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

We strongly recommend replacing the shaft seal. The purpose of a shaft seal is to prevent water from running down the shaft of the motor and into the motor housing. Water will damage the bearings and cause the motor to fail. A new shaft seal should be installed whenever a motor is replaced. The motor manufacturer can deny the warranty if the motor fails to due to water damage from a faulty shaft seal. To find your shaft seal you will need to visit our Pool Pump Parts Page or the Spa Pump Parts Page and select your make and model.

What is Service Factor?

A  Answered on 1/11/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.
