Part # GOKIT5
Alternate Part #'s 65005, APCK1046, GO KIT 5, PL1005
Standard tune up kit for the Pentair Challenger pump includes the shaft seal and all o-rings, gaskets and lubricant.
We highly recommend replacing the shaft seal, o-rings and gaskets when replacing your motor. If you use your old shaft seal, it will not mate up properly with the new motor and may leak.
This Tune Up Kit Works on These Pumps:

I have a Challenger CF II N1 1A MED HD pump that has developed a leak (and a loud whine). What gaskets and seals are appropriate for this model?
The label on the attached strainer says P/N 343233. 35-5300 is molded into the body
Hi, John. A loud whine indicates that the motor bearings are failing. Replacing the seals will not resolve this matter, the motor will need to be replaced. Your options are the B2853 or PL2853. The seals are all listed on the Pentair / Pac Fab Challenger CH / CF Series Parts Diagram page.
Hello, will this fit Pentair 343240? If now which is the correct part number?
Hi, Jorge. This kit will NOT work with the Challenger CF Pump - 343240. The seals will all have to be purchased separately and are all listed on the Pentair Challenger CH / CF Series Pump Parts Diagram.
Do you have a shaft seal for our motor, Century B2848? Thanks!
Hi, John. Shaft Seals are not identified by the motor, only by the pump housing model or name. Check out our How To Find The Correct Pool Pump Shaft Seal For Your Pool Blog.
Do you have a seal kit for a Pac-Fab Challenger CFII-N1 Pump. I need to replace the motor and the only seal kit I see is for a CHII model.
Hello Douglas- There is not a kit for the CF series pump. The difference is the CF Series pump requires the square gasket Diffuser Gasket - 355030 and Housing Gasket - 355329. You would use the same shaft seal and lid o-ring as the CH Series.
Need to purchase o ring kit for Pentair Challenger
I have a Model # B854
Serial # 08610och0503642
Hi, Trent. The info provided is for the motor, you will need to provide the Challenger model.
I have a B848 motor with a Challenger Pac Fab all other numbers are faded which O-Ring kit do I need and will it come with the shaft seals?
I have a Pentair Challenger high performance pump model 346201. Is the "Tune Up Kit Pentair Challenger Pump (CH Series) - GOKIT5" the proper one to purchase?
Yes, that model seal kit is for that model Challenger.
i have an older pump installed in 1998 CFII-NI-3/4A I have developed a small drip under the front housing and believe the large o-ring is going bad but not sure what part number I need any help would be apprciated
I have a pentair challenger 345208 and am looking for an OEM go kit. I noted that the part numbers on this kit do not match the numbers on the parts list I got with the pump. Is this kit OEM?
Hi, Barry. This is an aftermarket kit, there is not an OEM kit available for the Challenger CH Pumps.
how do I replace seal on 2hp pump, I have got the impeller off
Want to buy a go-kit for B855 motor (replacing Pentair Challenger High Performance motor CHII-N1-2A 346201 Uprated) It seems to be the Pentair Pac Fab Challenger GO-KIT-5.
But below is the complain on GO-KIT5 "... not for Challenger!, The outer cover seal in this kit is NOT a replacement for a Pentair Challenger! The gasket provided is a ROUND cross section and the Challenger requires a SQUARE cross section...." Therefore I need your confirmation on whether this kit is viable.
Hi, George. This tune up kit GOKIT5 is for the Challenger "CH" Series pump which is what you have.
I just replaced my pool pump motor with 3/4 HP Standard Motor - Full Rate (B847, B2847) I need to order a diffuser O ring do I order for High head or Medium Head?
Hi. That would be based on the pump model that you have. If you can provide me with the diffuser p/n I can tell you which one you need.
Will this kit work for CFII N1 2A/343240 Pentair 2 H.P. motor? and the pump housing gasket is round but flat edged with a bevel in the center
I think i need a repair kit for:
main pump impeller: Challenger Pentair 2 hp chii n2a, 1-07-f05 / 34-6201
booster: Century Centurion LA01N, Serial 1-12-G05
Main pump impeller sounds gravelly (about 4 cycles/sec - not continuous); but has good suction and pressure (I think the motor is ok).
Booster pump started whining recently, continuous. Seems like this is the motor (maybe a bearing?).
Would appreciate your help. Thanks,
I recommend opening up your Challenger to take a look at the impeller, it does not sounds like an impeller problem it sounds like the motor bearings and on your booster pump you will need to replace the motor and shaft seal which are part number 3285-81 and 5250-106. If you find the impeller is fice you will also need to replace the motor and shaft seal on your Challenger which are part numbers B855 and 354545S.
I apologize, I wrote that I just ordered the USQ1102 (AOSUSQ1102) - A.O. Smith 1 H.P Square Flange Motor but did not state the pump. It is a Pac-Fab Challenger (CFII-N1-1A) which seal kit do I need
Yes, the GOKIT5 is the correct seal kit for your Pentair Challenger.
I have just ordered the USQ1102 (AOSUSQ1102) - A.O. Smith 1 H.P Square Flange Motor. Which seal kit do I need
If you have the Pentair Challenger then the GOKIT5 is the correct seal kit for you.
I have the PAC FAB Challenger. Do I need GoKit 5 or GoKit 73?
They GOKIT73 has the squared off diffuser gasket at the cross section and the GOKIT5 has all o rings and gaskets that are rounded at the cross section. Technically there are two Challenger kits.
What I can read is PAC-FAB 2 HP and then ABEL 35-546. On the inside, on the inside of the back plate there are numbers: 35-5303 (3 inserts) and 35-5497 (6 inserts). Question: what GO-Kit do I get? It was attached to a 2 HP motor.
I have a AO Smith UST 1152 Pool Pump Motor with a Challenger pump: Model CH11-N1-3/4A attached. The motor runs, but the pump is not working. Do you recommend the Tune Up Kit Pentair Challenger Pump - GOKIT5 or something else?
Hi, Douglas. It depends on what is causing the pump not to pump water. Once you determine the cause we can assist you with resolving the issue. You can use our 8 Answers to “Why Is My Pool Pump Not Working?” Blog to assist you with figuring out why your pump isn't working.
Need tune up kit for AO smith centurion B2848 hp 1, rpm 3450
I have a 2hp PAC -FAB pump is 20 yrs.old , I replaced thr motor 3 yrs. ago put new impellar in this year can not find any leaks all lines are clear . It will not pull water from skimmer that is fartherish from pump can not get good volumn at discharge . Strainer will not completely fill get air in filter .
It might be the wrong impeller that you have. They have a medium head and high head impeller. If you happened to purchase the wrong impeller to match up with your diffuser and motor than that would be the problem with why it's not pulling the water.
I have a 2hp pac fab pump, I can not get the bubbles out of the strainer so the filter gets air in it , I can not get a good suction and do not have very good volume of water . I replaced impeller and defuser but not much help new motor .Pump is 20 years old.
I apologize for the delayed response. You have an air leak somewhere whether it's the seals in the pump that are bad or a leak in the plumbing.
I have a new sand filter, 15,000 gallon pool and 2 hp motor. It makes a noise gets louder at times and if I place my foot on it slightly right behind the basket area it seems to quieten down, the I remove my foot & it gets loud again. does it need replacing ?????I believe its over 3 years..old
Hi, The bearings are going bad in the motor, you can either replace the bearings or the entire motor.
Hi. I have a Pentair-Model # CHII-N1-1A/346204. It was making a really loud noise, so I replaced the bearings. It is really quiet now, but now it is leaking a lot of water. What seals would I need to replace. The large seal is square. Thank you for your help.
Hi Renee, We would suggest this tune up kit and replace all the gaskets and o-rings that are included in this kit. It is most like the spring loaded shaft seal that is causing the problem.
How do identify if my challenger motor is greater than 3hp. The labels are a little bleached. My pool is small and only 6ft deep so I doubt I have a larger engine. Not sure. Thanks
Hello Eric, There is a minuscule chance that your motor on your pool, less than 40,000 gallons is 3HP or greater. There is no real way to determine the size of your motor from a label that has faded or by visually inspecting the motor. You can take dimensions of your pool, filter size, pipe size, and attached features (spa, solar panels) and factor that information into determining a motor size. We would also recommend changing the seal on your pump when changing the motor.
will this kit fit my Centurion (A.O.smith) 1 HP B853 model?
As long as you have the Challenger pump then yet this kit will work. Please keep in mind that some of the Challenger models have the housing and diffuser gaskets squared from a cross section perspective and those style gaskets are sold separately.
Salt water and regular seals: what's the difference other than price? Could this be why the bearings in my existing motor failed? Is there a way to tell if the existing seals in my other motors are salt water or not? If they are not should I replace them on the working motors? Can I get a kit containing the salt water parts? Do I need to? Why isn't this more prominently advertised? I just about bought the kit and if I hadn't read the comments maybe it would have been a big mistake?
Michael, The only difference between the standard and salt water kits is that the shaft seal is made with VITON instead of standard rubber. Viton can withstand harsh minerals better than the standard rubber seals. There is no saltwater tune up kit for the challenger yet, but we do offer the salt water shaft seal. The bearings on your motor failed more than likely because your shaft seal did at one point. These salt water seals are so new manufacturer's don't even offer them yet.
My pump is not priming even after cleaning impeller. Will purchasing this kit aid in fixing that problem?
The seal kit can help with loss of prime. I can't guarantee that it will solve your problem. The loss of prime could be from an air leak at the valves or plumbing in front of the pump.
I recently changed my pool motor and gaskets. I made sure to lubricate all the gaskets with vaseline. A few days later water is leaking from the pump. What did I do wrong? Help please!!
You never want to use vaseline on any rubber gaskets or o-rings. Vaseline is petroleum based and will deteriorate the rubber quickly. Whenever you change the motor on a pool pump it is recommended that you replace the gaskets and shaft seal as well. A >Go-kit contains the shaft seal, packet of non-petroleum based lubricant and gaskets you will need for your pump. If you already have the gaskets, you can purchase >Magic Lube.

Disassembled pump and replaced all seals and o-rings. Pretty straightforward repair. Reassembled pump and installed new motor. Installed new motor/pump assembly along with some new plumbing and started up. All worked well with no leaks.

My family and I recently moved into a house that has an in ground pool that has not been used in over 20 years. All of the pool equipment (pump, filter, etc.) sits out in the open and as a result, most of the identifying marks and labels had faded to the point they were unreadable. Therefore, I contacted a customer service rep at INYOPOOLS and based on my description, the rep was able to determine the correct replacement pump motor and pump tune up kit I needed. The rep then directed me to the videos that would best demonstrate how to perform the repairs I was facing. I received the motor and tune up kit a couple of days later and completed the repairs without a problem.
(4 out of 5 stars) Parts identification could be clearer

Kit is working well for 6 months with no leaks. Parts identification could be clearer as some of the o-rings are close in size. You have to look at what you are removing and essentially match it to o-ring in the kit.
(5 out of 5 stars) GO KIT 5
Reviewed By: Veli S. from Plano, TX ()
I made the right decision to order GO KIT 5 when I was replacing my pool pump motor. Shaft seal and all other O rings worked well. I wish that there is some explanation on "Gasket" vs " O Ring". I did not know that both mean the same.
(5 out of 5 stars) Get this kit when you just need one part
Reviewed By: Jesus S. from Houston, TX ()
Pros: all together
Cons: had to search for the correct kit
This kit had all that I needed to work the pump/motor. Was just going to get a mechanical seal, but for the entire package, I was able to replace all gaskets also.

Pros: Complete, easy to order
I was able to chat online with a Inyo customer service rep and he told me what was in the kit and how to get the other parts I needed. I was able to overhaul the pump with one parts purchase and saved a lot of time. The parts were well made and fit perfectly.

Pros: Everything you need
Cons: And some you don't
Well, when the motor went out and I looked into replacing it myself, I find that I really should rebuild the pump. Rebuilding the pump really just involves replacing some seals and gaskets. Now who, wants to strip down their pump and then order this part and that part - Not me. So I ordered this with my new motor and it had everything I could possibly need. At a good price too.
(4 out of 5 stars) Nice Tune-up Kit
Reviewed By: Mickey S. from Fairfax, VA ()
Pros: Multiple sized strainer pot o-rings ensured the proper fit.
Cons: Having to make a separate order for the correct diffuser ring.
I ordered this kit mainly to replace the diffuser o-ring which was badly worn. It turned out that the diffuser needed the square ring gasket instead and it wasn't included, just a normal o-ring which wasn't the correct one for my Challenger pump. I will have to make a seperate order for that. However I used the other parts just fine and am happy with their performance.

bought pump & go kit with seals & lubricant needed to install. liked your instructional videos & quick delivery. pool is running again.

Pros: Best value for everything you need
Cons: You will end up with 1-2 extra o-rings you don't need.
This kit is great. The "con" is a very minor nit pick but is a reality since the kit assumes you want to change the o-ring for the filter basket housing where it connects to the pump housing. During a motor or shaft seal replacement you generally will not need to do this but the value of the kit makes up for any downside of an extra o-ring. I highly recommend it.
