With Microprocessor controls, digital read-out of pool water temperature, current salt level, purifier production level, Soft Reverse cell cleaning cycle and Boost Cycle, the Pool Pilot Digital is a technologically advanced unit. The easy to read digital readout on this In-Line unit even tells you how much salt to add should it run low. The Pool Pilot Digital has a patented temperature compensation feature that actually adjusts chlorine production according to the demands of the water temperature and operates in water temperatures up to104. It can purify pools up to 40,000 gallons and has a built-in time clock to control your pool pump...all at the touch of a button.
Pool Pilot Digital's unique boost feature allows you to rapidly increase the level of purification, eliminating the need to shock your pool with harsh chemicals.
Extra bright vacuum fluorescent digital read-out displays: Water temperature compensation, salt level, amount of salt to add, hours of cell use and water flow monitor.

I have an autopilot salt generator. The main board is subject to the sun, Is there a cover for the board so the damaging from the sun is kept off
Hi, Katherine. Unfortunately, there is not a cover that can protect the AutoPilot decal from being faded from the sun.
How long does the cells last before needing a replacement cell on the AutoPilot Chlorine Generator 48 Digital Disp. - DIG48? Can i Hayward Heat Pro heat pump 140,000 Buse the Chlorine Generator with the TU? The salt wont affect the Heat pump operation?
We typically see that the cells last 3-5 years on the AutoPilot Salt System. You can use the Hayward Heat Pro Heat Pump 140,000 Btu's with a Chlorine Generator. The salt levels on a salt system are much lower than seawater 3,000 PPM vs. 50,000 PPM so this low concentrated salt level does not effect pool equipment. You may want to consider a Zinc Sacrificial Anode here we have a Video on How Zinc Anodes Work which you may find helpful.
Is the salt included with the salt chlorine generator?
No, salt is not included. You would purchase the salt locally and the quantity will depend upon the number of gallons of water in your pool. Use a salt that is at least 99.8% pure NaCl. The preferred salt is evaporated, granulated, food quality, and NON-iodized. Avoid using salt with anti-caking agents like sodium ferrocyanide, also known as yellow YPS (prussiate of soda). These cause some discoloration of fittings and pool surface finishes. DO NOT use calcium chloride.
I have a pool that is about 10,000 gallons but I am thinking of buying a salt chlorine system for pools up to 20,000 gallons. Would the larger unit be a problem?
It is not a problem to oversize a salt system. It would take the larger unit less time to produce the necessary chlorine so it is actually more efficient. When the pool volume is very close to the capacity of the salt chlorine generator (for example, the pool is 18,000 gallons and the generator is rated at a maximum of 20,000 gallons), we would recommend going up to the next size generator.
Can the Auto Pilot control a pool pump and a booster pump for a cleaner?
No, the Auto Pilot can control a single or dual speed pump but the booster pump would need it's own timer.
What is the warranty on the Salt Cell itself and the Power Supply?
The power supply has a 2 year parts and labor warranty. During the 3rd year, 50% of parts cost is covered. The cell has a 2 year full parts and labor warranty. During the 3rd year, parts are covered at 50%. During the 4th year on the SC48 and SC60 ONLY, 25% of parts are covered. During the 5th year on the SC60 ONLY, 15% of parts are covered.
Does this unit include the bypass manifold, chlorine cell and the power supply.
Yes this unit does include the bypass manifold, chlorine cell and the power supply.
(5 out of 5 stars) Excellent Chlorine Generator

Pros: Easy Installation,Concise Instructions
Cons: None so far...
After manually adding chlorine to the pool for the past few years, we decided to switch over to an automatic system. The installation was very easy with the instructions provided, all parts were included and none missing, which makes it that much more pleasant. Once installed, all we did was add the bags of salt in the pool and let it do its job, allowing us to enjoy softer, less harsh water. The salt makes all the difference. Still have to balance the alkaline and Ph, but it is well worth it.

(4 out of 5 stars) Salt Perfect

Pros: Easy installation and Setup was a breeze
Cons: Need to Better Explain Power Up in Easy Terms
This product is "GREAT". Installation was easy, about a day for plumbing and electrical, for "Do It Yourselfers" Power hookup instructions were vague and I am an electrician by trade. Call for support if unsure. I have had my pool for 2 years and installed this Memorial weekend, 5-30-10, and wish I had done this when I had the pool put in. I will never go back to daaing Chlorine again.
